Alamo Badminton Club Members Bring Home Precious Metals

The Brooks Inner-City Sports is happy to announce that Tina a sophomore at Providence High School and Ruth an ex-Providence graduate traveled to Round Rock on July 28-29 to compete in the 2007 Games of Texas Badminton Tournament, where they captured the Gold medal against the #1 seated team from Houston. They are members of the Alamo Badminton Club. Robyn Bardee, Fitness Center Manager, presented the medals. Ruth also captured the Silver Medal and Tina the Bronze in the Women’s Single Division. Active Kids .... Smarter and Safer!
Being physically active make kids smarter and more confident, according to a report in the journal "Pediatrics". A study of 11,957 teenagers found that those who played sports were less likely to participate in risky behaviors or have low self-esteem. Athletic kids also had better grades, report the researchers at the University of Minnesota and University of North Carolina. The most likely reason: Teens who are active are exposed to team building and can see the benefits of hard work. ...(more)...
